A granddaughter reconstructs the story of her unknown grandfather, a Jewish French prisoner of war. Told through the perspectives of the women in his life and conceived as a modern variation on the Odyssey, the story traces flight, forced labour, lost loves and the consequences of his absence for the generations that follow.

A musical one-woman play with pianist and songs by Veronika Fischer. A fictional former fellow student of Veronika Fischer looks back on the years in which her own life went off the rails. While Fischer became famous with her songs, the other woman recognises her own story in them.
Veronika Fischer sang the songs. The protagonist lived them.
